A Tight Press Vest, or The Dilemmas of Female Journalists During Crisis News Broadcasts

Summary/Abstract: The research on the topic "How do reporters of Czech public media handle their dilemmas during crisis reporting" is a contribution to a several-year discussion on the professional self-concept of contemporary journalists in relation to fulfilling the mission of a journalist – i.e. to receive information and disseminate it. With grounded theory, we observe how they manage their emotions when processing negative information and what impact the effort to master the role of female journalists has on the development of the journalistic profession. We conducted qualitative research during 2022 and 2023 using in-depth narrative interviews with female correspondents who have worked in the media since the mid-1990s
