Relationship between Personal Initiative and Employee Silence

Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the analysis of the relationship between the constructs (1) personal initiative and (2) employee silence. The research is focused on employees in the service sector where the research used a sample of 264 respondents who were interviewed using the online questionnaire. On the basis of exploratory factor analysis there were extracted the following four factors: (1) Initiative (2) Defence Silence (3) Loyalty (4) Stagnation among which the relationships were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis (correlation coefficients). The strongest negative correlation was found between the factors Initiative and Defence Silence while a non-significant relationship was found between the factors of Loyalty and Stagnation. The possibilities for further research and application of the research results into practice are discussed at the end of the article.
