Summary/Abstract: The article deals with studying the implementation of contrast method in teaching student-native Ukrainian speakers the second foreign language (German) in case of English being the first foreign language. The authors strongly emphasize the topicality of studying several foreign languages as an answer to the increasing demand of the modern society in various kinds of international and intercultural communication, review the results of the linguistic and pedagogic researches in the introduced topic, define the key issues of teaching the second foreign language, describe positive and negative influence of the first foreign language, compare systems of English and German languages, find common features of studied languages. Moreover, the research is focused on studying the phenomena of interference as a negative influence of native and the first foreign languages, searches for the ways of using positive transference.
