The results of the technical activities of the polish insurance sector in the conditions of the global economic crisis

Summary/Abstract: The developments that accompanied the environment of the Polish insurance market which were caused by strong disturbances in bank sector's functioning have echoed in the financial results of insurance companies. Insurers were very cautious about spending finan- cial resources within general expenditure borne in insurance activity.The economic situation in Poland resulting from the global economic crisis, influenced the financial results of the insurers in 2007 and 2008, in a varied way.This article presents results of the review of the technical activity of the life and non-life insurance companies and insurance companies in total in the operating, investment and financial areas, and also of the global financial situation of the sector facing the ensuing changes in the global economy.
