Summary/Abstract: The article aims to provide an insight into the role of art therapy in the development of a child with autism spectrum disorders. The research shows that bothparents and therapists recognise the importance of participation in art therapyactivities for the social and emotional sphere of the child. Thanks to art therapy,children develop their assertiveness and interests, learn to cooperate in a group andto respect the rules of society. In addition, research has confirmed the effectiveness of the effects of art therapy on the cognitive development of a child with autism, including, in particular: attention, creative and reproductive thinking and imagination.
