Summary/Abstract: Moriz Hoernes, Austrian travel writer, archaeologist and philosopher, participated in the expedition to Bosnia and Herzegovina and presented descriptions of the people and regions gathered through several of his trips. His description of Sarajevo from the 1880s tells a story about the image of the city on the meeting point and the border between oriental and occidental culture; story about people of various religions, about their culture of living, customs and clothing. In the travelogue, the author shares his experience of the characteristics of city and village living, the unusual ambience, the penetration of European influences and visible differences in worldviews.
