BPMN Influence on the Process Approach in Management

Summary/Abstract: Recent years have brought a huge rise in popularity of BPMN in the area of business process modeling, especially among business analysts. This notation has characteristics that distinguish it significantly from the other popular process modeling notations, such as EPC. The paper contains the analysis of the most important characteristics of BPMN and presents author’s conclusions on the possible impact of the BPMN popularity on the practice of the process approach in management. Author’s observations also show a strong correlation between the modeling style in BPMN and prior IT experience of a model architect.
