Summary/Abstract: The article draws upon the author’s research into the role of translation and interpreting in foreign language pedagogy, offering examples of practical exercises that have proved successful in courses of Czech as a foreign language. The article presents translation and interpreting as effective tools in foreign language pedagogy which develop the students’ communicative and linguistic competence in both the target language and the source language.
