Summary/Abstract: The establishment of the Sociological School in Bucharest by Dimitrie Gusti was carried out with the intention of monographing the entire Romanian space, a project integrated into the social reform program initiated by King Carol II. For this purpose, several regional centers were established with the aim of zonal monographic research, eventually all of which would constitute a large monograph of the nation. One such centre was the Banat‑Crișana Social Institute in Timișoara, set up in 1932, with a single branch in Arad. The monographic campaigns organized from 1933 to 1942 illustrated an intense and successful activity, based on the research scheme developed by Dimitrie Gusti and the entire Sociological School. There was also an attempt at monographing in the Vinga, Hunedoara Timișană, in 1938. A memoir made by the regional inspector Ștefan Roman addressed to the Banat‑Crișana Social Institute presents in detail how things happened that ultimately led to a failed project.
