Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to capture the developments in historiography’s view on the personality and work of František Pubička S.I. (1722–1807) between the end of the eighteenth century and the current times. Pubička is an often neglected historian who wrote the most detailed work on Czech history in his time, the Chronologische Geschichte Böhmens unter den Slaven (6 volumes in 10 parts, Prague – Leipzig 1770–1801), where he treated Czech history until the year of 1618. He wrote in Latin but based on the wishes of Bohemian nobility, his work was translated into German.
