Summary/Abstract: The article presents the concept and tasks implemented as part of the didactic and scientific “Polskie cztery pory roku w Charkowie. Spotkania z polską kulturą, językiem i historią” project. The project uses a task-based method to developing communication and socio-cultural competences of Ukrainian-speaking recipients. This approach worked especially well during a summer school program of Polish language and culture called “Summer with Copernicus”. The article describes the activities carried out during the summer school. Forms and methods of communication in Polish have been divided into three types: the field of didactics, private everyday life, and social life. Particular attention was paid to the analysis of the student­-teacher project, which fully implemented the principles of a task-based approach to teaching and learning Polish as a foreign language. The article contains a description of the stages of this task and the resulting product – a textbook for learning Polish as a foreign language for Ukrainian-speaking recipients entitled Miasto i jego mieszkańcy.
