Summary/Abstract: The article tries to answer the fundamental question from the ontodidactic perspective: what to teach? The importance of ontodidactic dilemmas, i.e. referring to educational content, is emphasised by their context: information overload. This phenomenon has become one of the life attributes of contemporary youth. The article abounds in several facts and figures illustrating the complexity and responsibility of educational activities and the area of educational content selection. Moreover, the author engages in many issues concerning the organisation and methodology of the educational process in a time of information overload. In this background, she exposes an altered profile of a contemporary student – the homo mediens – and their expectations from school and a substantive educational offer. On top of that, she presents suggestions by ontodidacticians, which concern the directions of changes in educational content, its framework and selection.
