Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to present a research study on the relationship between the components of emotional intelligence and the coping strategies in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The sample size is 127 people, of which 86 women (68%) and 41 men (32%), randomly selected. The data obtained show that there are statistically significant, weak to moderate, positive and negative correlations between all components of emotional intelligence and some of the coping strategies, except for three of them: seeking instrumental support, religiosity, mental disengagement. The regression analysis showed that the factors from emotional intelligence that influence the most the strategies are: recognizing one's own emotions and self-control, motivation to overcome difficulties and optimism. They are positive predictors for choosing active coping strategies: active coping, planning, suppression of competing activities, restraint, positive rethinking and development.
