Summary/Abstract: The aim of the present study is to explore to what extent civil servants in the Republic of Bulgaria are satisfied with their work, to what extent they experience moral anxiety and burnout, given the stressful work environment. The sample consists of 116 (N = 116) employees working for the Employment Agency, the Social Assistance Agency, the National Insurance Institute, the National Health Insurance Fund, and the National Revenue Agency. The gender distribution is: 83.6% (n = 97) female and 16.4% (n = 19) male. The sample age is between 24 and 62 years (M = 46.9 SD = 8.8), their working experience as civil servants varied from 1 to 39 years (M = 14.5 SD = 9.9). From the results, it can be concluded that: civil servants show high values on the personal achievement scale, while low and medium levels of dehumanization and emotional exhaustion. The results show low levels of moral anxiety and dehumanization, and moderate levels of satisfaction with the supervisor, colleagues and salary. At the same time, there are high levels of personal achievements, as well as of satisfaction with the tasks and the work results achieved. The conducted research shows that the majority of employees are satisfied with their work and have a pro-social attitude, which leads to successful overcoming of stress at work.
