Summary/Abstract: The fundamental research problem that is the subject of this article is to demonstrate the civilizational affiliation of the Russian Federation and Ukraine. According to the accepted assumption, in Ukraine, counted by many authors as part of the civilization, the core of which is Russia, in recent decades there have been processes leading to its separation and incorporation into the Latin civilization. This is also the goal of the ongoing war. The specific problems concern the characterization of the assumptions of the theory of civilization in terms of the historiosophical concept of Feliks Koneczny and the specific characteristics of Turanian and Latin-type civilizations. Koneczny believed that under the influence of the Asiatic borrowings, Moscow became a representative of the Turanian model of civilization, within which authoritarianism reigns and power is based on fear and violence. It is experienced today by Ukraine struggling not only for sovereignty, but also for belonging to the Latin civilization circle.
