Summary/Abstract: This article aims to bring a new approach to the way the Local State Archive of Elbasan functions as a place of storage of important archival documents from 1945 until today. The documentation in this institution is comprehensive in origin, type, basic material, place and time of creation and in the information they contain. ASHVE is constantly subjected to planning, design and transformation at hierarchical levels in order to maintain important documents which are stored there, but also to increase and improve the quality of service to citizens. The advantages of the Central State Archive for a high quality service for the researcher, find application in all its structures, bringing a real qualitative transformation in the service sector of this institution. The purpose of our research work is to present and interpret the way of collecting and systematizing archival material in different historical periods, comparing the costs of human and financial resources for the institution itself. The highest interest would be the way of digitalization of funds at ASHVE also under the coordination of institutional agreements for the inclusion of students, within projects, but not only.
