COVID vocabulary in the Bulgarian media discourse and in the official state regulatory documentation (in view of innovative trends in Bulgarian grammar and (non)deviations from spelling rules)

Summary/Abstract: The article examines the vocabulary related to the coronavirus pandemic, in view of innovative trends in Bulgarian grammar and in view of (non)deviations from spelling rules. The conclusions were drawn based on the analysis of examples from 38 regulatory documents (orders, instructions, reports), 107 excerpted word combinations of in variable adjectives and nouns, and 20 other language units from the media discourse. The emphasis of the study is on the analysis of the semantic-structural and spelling features of the appositive word combinations of invariable COVID adjectives and variable nouns. Other COVID names related to the appearance of new biaspectual verbs, verbal nouns and the high frequency(frequency of use) of substantivized participles and nouns are also analyzed.
