Summary/Abstract: Stanisław Pigoń was one of the academic teachers who laid the foundations of the State Pedagogical University in Krakow. Its establishment was the implementation of a project formulated by Jan Władysław Dawid already in 1913, using the experience of the Higher Teacher Training Courses, the Pedagogical School of the Jagiellonian University and the State Pedagogium2. It is thanks to the staff of the Jagiellonian University that the new institution finds itself in a better situation than schools in Gdańsk, Łódź and Wrocław. The university was established by order of the Minister of Education of September 24, 1946, but on May 11, 1946, the WSP organizational committee was established, chaired by Professor Stefan Szuman. The Pedagogical Colleges were vocational universities. The studies lasted three years in trimester cycles. The Ministry of Education designed three-year schools. However, three years of studies provided a greater guarantee of proper preparation for the profession of a teacher of combined fields. The condition for admission was high school education.
