Two-Dimensional Analysis of the Carbon Footprint of a Community. A Case Study on the Community in Călărași County

Summary/Abstract: The importance of studying the carbon footprint of the community in Călărași county lies in highlighting the negative impact that each individual has on the planet. This carbon footprint serves as a tool for public reporting of the gas emissions that each individual or company generates, thus we can set goals for reducing the footprint and monitor over time whether these objectives can be or have been achieved. At the same time, it contributes to the collective awareness of the consequences that each of us can bring to the planet through our daily activities. Furthermore, it is possible to identify which activities generate more carbon dioxide and the most polluting areas, therefore specific measures can be taken. Following the analysis conducted on the inhabitants of Călărași county, an average above the optimal level is found, and several categories of individuals who generate more carbon dioxide than others have been identified. Continuing this research, it is necessary to realize the unfavorable impact that each of us has on the environment, and measures to protect it are necessary, reducing the footprint generated by our activities.
