Unpublished Documents Concerning Ceslav Ambrojevici’s Collection of Paleolithic Antiques

Summary/Abstract: The authors give a detailed presentation of the content of documents unpublished so far, identified within the Archives of the Region of Chernivtsi (Ukraine), regarding the collection of Paleolithic items held by famous archeologist Ceslav E. Ambrojevici (1900-1954). During 1939 (January-March), this collection was purchased by the University of Chernivts for the amount of 15000 lei. In this context, the authors also present the personality of professor Theofil Sauciuc-Săveanu from “Carol II” University of Chernivtsi, who recommended to the Royal Resident of Suceava County, Professor G. Alexianu, the making of the payment, to the benefit of the University.
