Summary/Abstract: Leadership is an important determinant of the quality functioning and perspective of kindergarten development. Leadership skills are primarily based on collaborative, supportive relationships, mutual acceptance and respect, and quality and open communication. The paper presents the results of research into the opinions of educators, principals and professional associates on the influence of the quality of relationships on the culture of the institution, the distribution of rights and responsibilities in their institutions, the way of decision-making, the role of principals and the importance of leadership, support and appreciation of opinions in achieving better collaborative relationships. 122 respondents from nine kindergartens in the Zenica-Doboj Canton took part in the survey. Surveying, evaluation and judgment were applied as research procedures, with appropriate instruments (questionnaires and attitude scales). The results showed that high-quality employee relations have a positive effect on the quality of kindergarten culture, and that the majority of respondents believe that work requires quality guidance and support. It was confirmed that the quality of the institution’s work depends on the management’s willingness to co-decide and share rights and responsibilities with all employees, which ultimately brings all employees into an equal relationship. The probability of successfully solving a problem is higher if it is solved by a larger number of people with a common goal. The need for fair distribution of responsibilities and joint problem solving was emphasized. The overall results of all institutions showed that it is necessary to engage all the employees in building collaborative relationships in order to improve the quality of kindergarten work.
