Summary/Abstract: Leisure as an achievement of modern society has become available to the masses thanks to industrialization. It is a constant value of postmodern societies. However, it is undergoing changes – changes in its resources (we have more of it or less) and in the quality and ways of spending it. It is culture that determines the quantity, quality and content of leisure time available to individuals and groups. In the Western culture societies, the consumption model of spending free time is dominant. But, gaining popularity anti-consumer and sustainable consumption values, are being implemented in the area of leisure time more and more often. This is a novelty in current cultural patterns. The aim of the article is to show that sustainable and anti-consumer ideas that are relevant today, show individuals and groups how to use leisure time in a new way, and how to consume them in an anti-consumer way. The basis of the article is the analysis of subject literature, existing research, as well as social practices related to this issue.
