Summary/Abstract: Antun Gustav Matos (Matoš on Croatian) was a famous Croatian poet, short story writer, and journalist. He is considered to be responsible for opening Croatia to the world of European modernism. His first work from 1892, The Power of Conscience (Moć savjesti) marks the start of Croatian modern literature.
