Summary/Abstract: Sime Budinić, (1530/35-1600), was a Renaissance church writer and translator. Born in Zadar. Budinić was great admirer of the cultural heritage of Cyril and Methodius , and knew very well Glagolitic and Cyrillic literature. Early eighties of the 16th century in Rome were published several of his works (Pokorni i mnogi ini psalmi Davidovi, 1582). Due to the fact that he was speaking čakavian dialect his first works are based on this dialect, but later he was increasingly trying to pass to štokavian dialect because he wanted his works to be understood by a large number of readers. This paper analyzes čakavian and kajkavian features in the two selected works of Šime Budinić. The analysis includes graphs, vocalisms, consonantism, case forms, verb forms and some elements of syntax. All settings are supported by concrete examples.
