Summary/Abstract: For a deeper understanding of the mechanisms that made the Romanian historical community in Hungary to function and preserve its ethnic identity in the postwar period, it is necessary to approach ethnographic and folklore research conducted by Romanian researchers within the community, but also outside it. And the main way of disseminating this research was the Journal of Ethnography and Folklore” Izvorul”, a publication of the Research Institute of Romanians in Hungary, published for the first time in 1982, in Gyula, Hungary. The studies that appear in this journal are very well documented, diversified, approaching several perspectives in research (history, sociology, ethnography, folklore, literature, etc.), often the same study combining elements from various fields, thus achieving a complex picture of the topics addressed. The authors add, in addition to the text, numerous photographs, photocopies of some documents, musical scores, to better exemplify the researched topics, which makes this publication a valuable document in which the traditions, customs and culture of the Romanian historical community in Hungary are reflected.
