Summary/Abstract: It is well known that in the United States continued discussions and court trials are being lead concerning the teaching of Darwin’s evolutionary theory in school. Such is e.g. „the Scopes trial of our day“ – Kitzmiller, et al v. Dover Area School District et al. It is a strange cultural fact, however, that in the Bulgarian philosophical literature the debate among naturalists and creationists about the origin of life and of human beings stays almost untouched. I have tried to this effect, in the form of a dialogue between a critically thinking philosopher, and a modern creationist, upholder of the intelligent design, to outline the subject of the contemporary debate. Then I consider the argument from irreducible complexity of living organisms in favour of the intelligent design, and some possible objections to it. The claim is put forward that in spite of the fact that the intelligent design could function as a regulative idea for a believer, it cannot be accepted as a type of scientific explanation.
