Summary/Abstract: In Maciej Demel’s extensive and diverse scientific work we find an interesting area of publications on scientific criticism. Demel has practiced criticism, writing reviews, critical articles, columns and satirical texts. Demel’s publications discussed in the article are reviews and review articles published in specialist journals between 1957–1972, reflecting the author’s passion for cognition, enormous erudition and commitment to the development of the disciplines he is a scientific couple and his active, insightful readership. Features such as references to tradition, care for the quality of published books indicate that Demel can be considered an adaptive critic.
