Summary/Abstract: Today's terrorism symbolizes the harsh reality of the world. A reality that brings damage to lives, health and immense property and political damage. In the past, however, terrorism has not received the attention it deserves. It has always been a statement that considered terrorism to be an extremely serious crime in society, but which does not mean a fundamental threat to social development or a threat to states. In principle, terrorism was considered a common crime. International terrorism as a major security risk began to be perceived only after the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the bipolar world. It was not until the 1990s, when the threat of a new world war could most likely be ruled out, that the world's attention began to turn to other risks. The issue of terrorism has not yet been comprehensively and in detail. Terrorism research has become a multidisciplinary object, which encounters a number of problems, such as insufficient theoretical background, lack of generally accepted definitions of terrorism and related phenomena, exact typology, low level of reliable factual data and more. The media (misleading or biased comments), disinformation operations and intelligence propaganda information, as well as political comments or relatively frequent politicization of scientific discussions, play a negative role. The knowledge of terrorism presented here may provide certain starting points and sources of information for further research and knowledge of a similar nature. The acquired knowledge is processed in the form of recommendations and offers a certain theoretical generalization with possible adequate validity and usability in practice. The aim of scientific research on terrorism should be to define this phenomenon precisely, to classify it internally according to the same criteria, to clarify the causes, conditions and consequences of its existence, and to define and divide the procedures leading to its suppression and to evaluate their effectiveness.
