Summary/Abstract: In this article, we aim to analyse the influence of space on the destiny of the characters in Mihail Sadoveanu’s short stories. The theoretical framework of our article is represented by elements found in specialized texts of writers such as Ernest Bernea, Lucian Blaga, or Mircea Eliade. The space can be discovered only due to ability of the character to understand its unwritten laws. If the character discovers this ability, then the space will influence him in a positive way. Sadoveanu himself is an example of character in this category, due to his desire to understand the meanings that a new space implies. This essay also contains numerous quotations that refer to all the aspects we have already mentioned.
