GREETING AS A MARK OF POLITENESS IN THE NOVELS OF MIHAIL SADOVEANU

Summary/Abstract: The pragmatic component of Sadoveanu`s historical writings in the corpus under analysis is materialized trough the discursive level and trough the updating of the strategies of politeness, whose essential element considered in this article is the greeting. Ethnic, cultural and social conditions are listed in a great variety of forms, each one doubled or not by paraverbal and nonverbal elements. These conditions are illustrating a universe characteristic to the local area, which is combined with various Balkan influences and which reflects a world subjected to a social ritual with very well-established coordinates.
