The Nation and the State in the Epoch of Dynamic Changes

Summary/Abstract: This article is an attempt to rethink the notion of the state and the nation in the epoch of dynamic changes, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. Its goal is to analyze and evaluate how well we know and apply the principles of governance in the conditions of transition to a new state of the world. This condition is defined by the epoch and the situation – a product of circumstances and governance. The authors make a number of suggestions regarding the principles of governance and the guidelines for managerial thinking and behavior. Some trends and challenges in the rapidly changing security environment are outlined. In this context, the authors suppose optimizing the Common Security and Defence Policy of the European Union.
