Summary/Abstract: The library of the Missionary Seminary of the Society of the Divine Word in Pieniężno (MSD) was established shortly after the foundation of the Seminary in 1948. It was placed in the post-German Lower Seminary. Because of the post-war situation the beginnings of the library were laborious. The whole book collection was largely made up of books from other SVD houses (mainly from Nysa, Bytom, Rybnik, Chludowo and Bruczków). Exchanging doublets with other libraries was a way of enriching the library. Currently, the MSD library has a large collection of books not only in the field of philosophy, theology and related sciences, but due to the fact that future missionaries educate here, the library specializes in such departments as: missiology, religious studies, ethnology, linguistics, cultural anthropology and cultural studies. The entire computer-generated book collection (not counting textbooks, old prints and reading rooms) consists of 110,000 volumes. The library also has a collection of 280 old prints. In 2015 conservation work begun on them and it was completed in 2019.
