Summary/Abstract: The authors are former political prisoners. Covering the period 1949-1956, the testimonies describe the daily food in Aiud, one ofthe extermination centres set up by the Communist regime. The prisoners' weight decreased to 19 pounds in less than four months. The estimated daily nutritive value did not exceed 1000 calories.
