Summary/Abstract: The text describes the essence of tourism. Statistical studies on the development of tourism are considered, its digitization is considered. The number of tourists during and after COVID-19 was examined; Statistics are presented related to the number of tourists who visited Bulgaria for the period from January to December 2021; January to June 2022. Visits to Bulgaria as a tourist destination are considered in comparison to visits by tourists from other countries. The number of Bulgarian tourists visiting other countries is also taken into account.
