Summary/Abstract: Ethics and academic integrity are two of the most important principles of a high-quality education. This article provides a terminological and etymological overview of what is meant by morality, ethics and academic integrity, which are necessary to ensure the quality of academic work. It also presents the different types of academic fraud. Academic integrity, underpinned by ethical values and embodied in behaviour, plays a very important role in an academic community. Violation of academic integrity is manifested by academic fraud, which results in the sanctioning of members of the academic community (student, teaching and research staff, technical and administrative staff), as they must respect intellectual property.
