Summary/Abstract: This article drafts a possibility to apply the structure of scientific revolutions coined by Thomas Kuhn to artistic revolutions, namely to avant-gardes, focusing on the particular study-case of Futurism. The major objective of this research is to explain how Kuhn's remarks on the validity of a dominant paradigm resist in arts, tracking down the political incursions that determine the relevancy of a cultural revolution in different times of modern history. The solution advanced throughout this article is to consider that the aesthetic validity of an avant-garde is determined by the political principles and values stated by a certain artistic paradigm. Consequently, we will analyse to what extent Fascism contributed to the aesthetic validity of Futurism as a dominant cultural paradigm for the modern Italian society, arguing that the exhaustion of this avant-garde movement was equally caused by a political blending of causes, principles and values.
