Summary/Abstract: In this paper, I make an attempt to show, on the basis of literature studies and own research, that there is a high probability of a link between the participation of seniors in raising their grandchildren and the former’s self-assessment of their own life situation. The analysis shows that grandparents who are involved in this process evaluate their economic situation and their ability to satisfy their own needs much more favourably than those who have not developed close relationships with their grandchildren or participated in their upbringing. The self-assessed quality of life of seniors, as determined by the variables described above, is higher for grandparents active in the process of raising their grandchildren.
