Summary/Abstract: On the 220th anniversary of their birth, our paper evokes the meeting of two personalities who understood to give unity and uniqueness to their literary and political activity, in accordance with the atmosphere and ideas of their epoch, thus becoming creators of culture: Victor Hugo and Ion Heliade-Rădulescu. Their "physical" meeting, complemented by the "spiritual", the "literary" one, was occasioned not only by the historical-social framework, but also, especially – we consider – by the cultural and ideological-literary one.
