“Professional” Farmers About Agriculture, Work and Their Farms

Summary/Abstract: In this article, it is presented who are professional farmers and how they think about themselves. The constructing the definition of a professional farmer is also presented. Moreover, the characteristics of a farm manager provided by respondents are shown. Professional farmers were younger, more masculinized and better educated than average Polish farmer. Most of them have specialisation in production. In the opinion of 2/5 of them, situation of Polish farmers is rather bad and depends on world markets. Surprisingly, more than half of them have no plan of farm development, which questions their professional approach to farming.
