Summary/Abstract: This article discusses some of the aspects of the impact of control exercised by the Bulgarian National Bank and internal banking control on minimizing the risk in lending, which continues to be an important and topical issue in banking practice and specialized literature. Emphasis is placed on the role of minimizing credit risk to achieve stability and good financial results in commercial banks, as well as on control exercised by the Bulgarian National Bank and internal banking control as a prerequisite for limiting credit risk.
