The Challenge to Regulatory Authorities in Credit Risk Management in Commercial Banks, in the New Realities

Summary/Abstract: This article examines some of the challenges facing European banking regulators in the context of the 2008 financial crisis and the current global economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Of interest are the challenges facing the European regulatory authorities in developing the regulatory framework for banking risks and the harmonization of the national regulatory framework with the changes imposed by the European Union. The situation requires decisive action, both on the part of the European Central Bank, the European Banking Authority and the BNB as the central bank of the Republic of Bulgaria.
