Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on postmodernity/postmodernism as much discussed, yet quite a controversial phenomenon of the 20th century. We dwell on intensively on certain aspects and features of postmodernism filtered through various and sometimes conflicting prisms of the most significant contemporary philosophers (Jameson, Lyotard, Baudrillard, Foucault, Hyssen) and literary scholars of merit (Hutcheon, McHale, Hassan). Modernism vs Postmodernism, comtemporary society, information theory, the postmodern subject, histor(icit)y, (hyper)reality, the author’s complicity with(in) the establisment are only some of the issues dealt with in this paper. The question on what era we have just entered or we are heading towards after the end of postmodernism remains open with possible directions outlined in the last paragraph (performatism, digimodernism)
