Summary/Abstract: Since the annexation of Crimea, the nature of Western relationship with Russia is undergoing itsdeepest crisis since the end of the Cold War. Russia and the West view the current situation indrastically different terms. NATO views Russia as an aggressor, which used the force and violated theinternational law. Russia sees the world in terms of `spheres of influence` and therefore has a differentstarting point. In Moscow`s eyes, after swallowing Central Europe and the Baltic States, the West isnow approaching to the Russian`s borders. According to different political analysts, both from Russiaand the West, there are few overlapping interests and many divergent world views that are likely tobe reflected in antagonistic positions and can lead to dangerous situation. Therefore, both sides shouldmake their utmost to manage the confrontation and restoring the cooperation. The differencesbetween Russia and the West need to be discussed, including the ideas suggested by experts fromboth sides. While opposing and criticizing each-other, both sides should try to get across the messagethat there is hope and chances to overcome the current crisis and to re-establish cooperation, inaccordance with common long-term strategic interests.
