Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on the bibliographical work of the eminent canonist and seasoned bibliographer, Jakub Sawicki. He created a pioneering bibliography of particular synods, initiated and maintained for many years a basic current historical and legal bibliography and compiled a number of personal bibliographies. Following a profile of the bibliographer, the circumstances leading to the individual indexes are presented, the principles of the material’s selection are outlined and the method of their preparation is discussed.
