Summary/Abstract: The article studies the conception of music of the traditional folk musicians which have formed а particular system of notions and terms – а folk theoretical system – the folk “science of music”. This system of notions is extremely important and forms the genuine basis for the study of musical folk culture, which motivates the development of that type of musical folk studies. The field study detailed in the present article was lead in the villages near Stanke Dimitrov and Kyustendil. The first part of the text studies at а comparative level the meanings of some frequently used theoretical notions in musical folk studies and the interpretation of those notions by the traditional folk musicians. In the second part of the text the author elaborates а system of some notions (and of their meanings) in folk musical science related to folk musical theory, folk musical history and folk musical aesthetics.
