Summary/Abstract: The study examines the basic elements of the urban settlements: town walls, town towers, town gates and bridgeheads. In the second place are examined the elements within a town; the market and the services connected with it, the public and private spaces and their interaction; the streets. Besides the attention is paid to the institutions in the town and the buildings representing them: palaces, central and district churches, hospitals and asylums with respect to their accessibility or inaccessibility, presence or absence. They namely indicated the dynamics of urban life which was different from village life. In this manner may be considered both the morphology of the mediaeval Bulgarian town and the synthesis of the separate structure-determining elements.
