Summary/Abstract: The author considers the understanding of national minorities' issues on territories of what is now Romania since the 19th century to nowadays; the uneasy dyamics betwen majorities and minorities was, and stil is, a constant element of any national minorities' issue for any country and people with a very strong agricultural and pastoral past, like Romania and Romanians. Jews, Hungarians, Germans and Roma have difficult times in Romania across the centuries, but the accession of our country to (quasi) full membership of the European Union changed some of the main approaches of public policies onunpopular minorities.
