Summary/Abstract: In this article the author examines the Bulgarian and Romanian carols through the comparative method taking into account the complex character of folklore and the interrelation between its components – speech, music, dance, ritual. etc. Results show a striking similarity between the carols of the two peoples regarding versification and rhythm, one of the principal structural indicators of carols.
