Summary/Abstract: The librarian’s / bibliographer’s profession changed dramatically under the pressure of the new information and communication technologies. New challenges and opportunities come about both for the professionals and for the users. The process of providing references is a complex process through which the expert makes an anamnesis following an interview with the user, and the purpose of this process is an individualized and useful specialized bibliography. The classic form of bibliography, which dates back over a hundred years, the descriptive bibliography, is just one of them. A more complex form, the analytical bibliography, provides, in addition to the list type of references, an abstract of each paper. Another, even more complex form is that of providing reading sheet references. So the very form of the bibliography is a complex one, beyond the fact that the new generations of users are generations that learn, get documented and inform themselves completely differently from the previous generations. Therefore, rethinking and reinterpreting the term bibliography is needed in order to produce changes in the way librarians offer expertise, or even to rethink library services.
