Summary/Abstract: The present article is intended to offer a short biographical introduction into the activity of Gheorghe Ciuhandu (1875-1947), one of the most prolific historians of Western Transylvanian area during the first decades of the 20th century. Specialized in theological studies and church history (he graduated the Faculty of Theology of the University of Chernivtsi with a doctoral thesis in 1905), member of the Orthodox ecclesiastical structure in Arad, Gheorghe Ciuhandu has developed during almost five decades an intense cultural, social and religious activity related not only to the regional problems, but also to the Romanians’ evolution after 1918. Historical writing distributed in a large series of monographies, cultural and religious studies, published in various journals is an expression of this intense activity and his strong religious beliefs. The article includes an extended list of his historical publications and a list of historiographical references related to him.
